Appreciation Awards Banquet
The San Diego Association of Public Safety Dispatchers (APSD) will be presenting awards on Saturday April 14th, 2012 at the 2012 Dispatcher Appreciation Awards Banquet in the categories listed below. The following outlines nomination requirements, eligibility, and selection criteria for each award. Award Categories Evidence of a significant contribution may be, but is not limited to, exemplary performance on a consistent basis, or substantial efforts made to better the profession through training or innovation. COMMUNICATIONS CENTER OF THE YEAR This award will consist of a plaque that can be displayed in the winning communications center, along with certificates for all dispatchers from the winning agency. INCIDENT OF THE YEAR SUPERVISORY LEADERSHIP AWARD Examples of leadership traits and values can include, but is not limited to, integrity, fairness, visionary, innovative, dedication, serving as a role model, inspiring others, mentoring and coaching others, building and maintaining trust, or recognizing the good work of others. To be eligible for this award, nominees must have been a manager, supervisor, lead dispatcher, or similar classification having the authority and responsibility for directing and supervising the actions of dispatch personnel and operations within the communications center during the prior calendar year. Nomination Process Any person can submit a nomination. More than one nomination can be submitted by any one individual. There is no limit to the number of dispatchers nominated from one agency. A dispatcher can be nominated for more than one category. A separate nomination form must be completed for each category the dispatcher is nominated for. Nominations must be received by 5:00 PM February 17th, 2012. Postmarks will not be accepted. Nominations can be submitted to an APSD Executive Officer, sent via U.S. Mail, or faxed, or emailed to: APSD Fax Submissions: 619.342.7344 Selection Process The Awards Selection Committee will be comprised of either five or seven public safety dispatchers from different agencies in San Diego County. The Committee and the selection process will be directed by the Event Chairperson. Nominees for the 'Dispatcher of the Year’, 'Incident of the Year', and ‘Supervisory Leadership Award’ categories are unable to serve on the Committee. |
